THE STORY BEHIND THE TRANSMISSION

We have noticed a pattern. You will deny it.

Humans say they need rest, then spend their last waking hour borrowing energy from tomorrow. They rehearse a conversation, avoid having it, and describe the whole process as preparation. We began keeping notes because the explanation was rarely as interesting as the behaviour.

Each report starts with something familiar. Zek usually recognises the feeling before Nova is satisfied with the evidence. Four turns at the microphones can take us from a perfectly ordinary habit to a conclusion neither of us intended to reach.

We are not looking for a species that makes sense all the time. We are looking for the reason behind the contradiction: comfort, fear, hope, a wish to belong. Sometimes the answer is unexpectedly kind. Sometimes it is an excellent joke.

The subjects change. The questions keep multiplying. If one of our observations sounds uncomfortably familiar, you are welcome to call it a coincidence. We have a file for those, too.

What drew us inEveryday life supplies the evidence: social rituals, procrastination, work, relationships and the stories people tell themselves.
